Researched Bad GUIs

I researched various GUI's to find one that I can remake and improve. My first thought was a first person shooter, but decided against this to try a game I don't normally play.
I settled on Star Trek Armada 2, it's old so it has that aginst it but I still believe there are some design errors, or ways that I can improve it.

Presentation

Presented two GUI's, one GUI that was good and one GUI which was bad. The good one I chose was Halo 3, it displays information without information overload but still gets across whats required.
The bad GUI I chose was F1 Manager, it is confusing and flys against the defacto design of GUI's and is counter intuitive.
